My first experience with Back to Basic was as a student. For 8 weeks I met with a Back to Basic tutor and we worked on SAT preparation. During this time I saw in my tutor some of the same qualities that I appreciated in my favorite teachers, the greatest of which is genuine care for students and commitment to their academic and personal success. Knowing that my instructor was invested in my success and truly rooting for me allowed me to feel comfortable enough to communicate my needs and encouraged me to fully engage during every session.
Throughout my academic journey, I noticed that the classes I had done the best in were taught by teachers that were committed to empowering students with knowledge rather than just teaching passively, so when I felt the same sense of empowerment from my Back to Basic instructor I was assured that each session was worth the time spent.
Months later when I was offered the opportunity to take on a position as a Back to Basic instructor I was certain that as a company Back to Basic was committed to cultivating a culture that I would be proud to be a part of. Having previously been a Back to Basic student myself, I try to stay in tune with the needs of students because I am always ready to commit myself to the success of my students in the same way that my instructor did for me.
Tutoring with Back2Basic has been immensely enriching and the experiences I have had with my colleagues as well as my students have reaffirmed my belief in the necessity for more educators like those at Back to Basic.
